MUST and Malawi College of Accountancy (MCA) have officially entered into a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening both academic and professional collaboration between the two institutions.
The signing ceremony took place at MUSTโs main campus in Thyolo and was attended by senior officials from both institutions.
This partnership is set to foster innovation, research, capacity building, and sustainable development in Malawi.
Speaking during the ceremony, Professor Alfred Maluwa, Director of Research and Outreach at MUST, described the partnership as a milestone in the history of the two institutions.
He emphasized the shared commitment to academic excellence and potential of this collaboration to bridge gaps in accountancy education, project development, and academic programming.
โWe should leverage our combined expertise, resources and reputation to address social economic challenges and drive positive change and sustainable development in Malawi,โ said Prof Maluwa.
On his part, Dr George Kaudza Masina, Director of MCAโs Blantyre campus, highlighted the partnership as a key driver of institutional success.
He noted that the collaboration would enhance knowledge sharing, innovation, resource mobilization, and professional development.
โThrough this partnership, we are aligning with government efforts to promote innovation and make a meaningful social impact,โ Dr Masina added.
Principal of MCA, Mrs Christina Chithila, also expressed her excitement with the collaboration.
She said the MoU will bring a wide range of benefits including joint research and publications, collaborative project bids and consultancies, academic support programmes, staff and student exchanges, external examinations, and quality assurance initiatives.
โThis is a great opportunity for us to learn from MUST, especially as we roll out new academic programmes. We believe it will enhance our institutional capacity and contribute to national development,โ said Chithila.
This collaboration marks another step forward for MUST in its mission to foster transformative partnerships that not only benefit students and staff, but also positively impact communities and the nation at large.
