MUST joined other institutions on Sunday, July 6, 2025, in the Nchalo Shire club socials tournament held in Chikwawa District.

During the event, MUST staff netball team, MUST Queens, came out second, ensuring there was something to remember the event for.

The tournament, organized by Illovo Sugar Malawi, was not just a sporting event, it was a platform for promoting collaboration, wellness, and institutional networking.

Participating institutions included Illovo Sugar Malawi, Old Mutual, Blantyre Water Board, and MUST.

The day was filled with energy and excitement as teams competed in football and netball, showcasing not only talent but also the power of teamwork and unity.

Representing MUST, Rodney Maganga, who led the universityโ€™s delegation, applauded Illovo for organizing the event.

He highlighted the tournamentโ€™s role in creating space for institutions to engage informally, build lasting relationships, and promote staff wellness through physical activity.

โ€œThis tournament goes beyond sports as it reminds us that progress is not achieved in isolation. Institutions must collaborate, interact and learn from each other if we are to truly develop,โ€ Maganga said.

Guest of honour, Evans Mautsahuku, the Illovo Sugar Malawi Nchalo Factory Manager, commended all teams for their participation and team spirit.

He emphasized the value of such events in building a stronger, more united professional community.

While MUST Queens shone as always, the football team ensured their participation was marked by determination, resilience, and a strong sense of sportsmanship, qualities that reflect the universityโ€™s core values.

Beyond competition, the tournament offered lessons in leadership, teamwork, and the importance of staying active and connected.
