MUST, through the African Drone and Data Academy (ADDA) on December 5, 2025, held an engagement meeting with Tikonze Apapa Foundation to discuss a possible partnership that will promote inclusion and accessibility in technology education.
Tikonze Apapa is a charitable organization dedicated to empowering deaf and hard-of-hearing communities in Malawi by improving access to communication, education, and opportunities.
Speaking during the meeting, Emmanuel Chinkaka, ADDA Program Manager, said they are working to ensure that their programs are inclusive to all learners.
โ€œWe want everyone, including people with disabilities, to access drone and data technology training. Partnering with organizations like Tikonze Apapa will help us make our programs more inclusive and supportive,โ€ said Chinkaka.
On her part, Katiana La France, Executive Director of Tikonze Apapa, thanked MUST and ADDA for choosing to collaborate with them.
She noted that the partnership will open doors for the deaf community to explore new skills in drone operation and data technology.
โ€œWe appreciate this opportunity. It shows commitment to uplifting the deaf community and ensuring they also benefit from the fast-growing world of technology,โ€ she said.
Both institutions agreed to develop a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to guide their collaboration going forward.
Once finalized, the partnership will, among others, enable MUST and ADDA to benefit from sign language interpretation services during events, joint outreach activities, and basic sign language training for ADDA staff.
The move is expected to enhance communication, accessibility, and participation for deaf and hard-of-hearing learners.
