MUST has officially sworn in the first-ever leadership team of the MUST Alumni Association during an oath of office ceremony held on April 16, 2026 at the MUST City Campus in Blantyre.
The event marked the beginning of a new chapter for the university, as this is the first Alumni Association to be established at MUST, with the newly sworn-in team becoming its first leaders.
The Association has been formed to help trace, connect, and promote the welfare of MUST alumni, while also supporting current students.
This step is important for a growing university like MUST, as it strengthens relationships between graduates and the institution, encourages mentorship, and creates opportunities for collaboration and development.
Speaking during the ceremony, MUST University Registrar, Alfred Chinombo, congratulated the new leaders on their election and expressed confidence in their ability to serve.
โ€œWe are proud of this milestone. As management, we are committed to supporting you as you begin this important responsibility,โ€ said Chinombo.
On his part, the President of the MUST Alumni Association, Alfred Kampira, thanked MUST management for supporting establishment of the Association, saying it will play a key role in bringing alumni together and supporting their welfare.
โ€œThis Association will help us stay connected and support one another. We are ready to work for the benefit of both alumni and current students,โ€ he said.
He also encouraged his fellow leaders to remain committed to their duties.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, MUST Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Wilson Mandala, advised the leaders to uphold discipline and integrity in their roles.
โ€œYou are not only representing the Alumni Association, but also MUST as a whole. Be disciplined and lead with integrity,โ€ said Mandala.
Following the ceremony, the new leaders began a two-day leadership orientation aimed at preparing them for their roles.
The orientation started immediately after the event and will conclude tomorrow.
The establishment of the Alumni Association is expected to strengthen the MUST community by building a strong network of graduates who can contribute to the universityโ€™s growth and support future generations of students.
