As one way of bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry demands, MUST continues to provide students with internship opportunities that are directly connected to their fields of study, helping them gain practical skills and professional experience before graduation.

One such student is Dalitso Chiliko, a fourth-year Bachelor of Engineering in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering (Honours) student, who is currently undertaking his internship at Electricity Generation Company (EGENCO).

In an interview, Dalitso described his placement as an exciting and valuable opportunity that is helping him link classroom knowledge and real-world industrial practice.

โ€œI felt excited and grateful when I received my internship placement. It is a great opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge I have gained at MUST in a real engineering environment,โ€ he said.

Dalitso said so far he has been exposed to various engineering processes and industrial operations that relate directly to metallurgy and materials engineering.

He says the experience has helped him strengthen important skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, professionalism, and adaptability in the workplace.

According to Dalitso, MUST has played an important role in preparing him for the opportunity through its strong academic foundation and emphasis on practical learning.

He further highlighted that the universityโ€™s collaboration with industry partners continues to create meaningful opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in sectors related to their studies.
