MUST on June 5, 2026, successfully concluded its four-day students leadership orientation program.

The training wrapped up with an official closing ceremony at MUST's Ndata campus in Thyolo, and was attended by both university staff and students.

The orientation was designed to equip newly elected student leaders with essential governance skills.

Among others, it focused on Effective Leadership, Conflict Resolution, Policy Alignment, Teamwork and Emotional Intelligence.

Closing the event, Dean of Students Affairs, Dr Kondwani Mkandawire, congratulated the student leaders for readying themselves for the task ahead.

"You now have the tools to foster a vibrant, supportive and dynamic campus culture. I now see you ready to embrace the additional responsibility," Dr Mkandawire said.

"I urge you to lead with empathy, integrity and tolerance."

Dr Mkandawire tipped the student leaders that leading is not always about having answers, but having the courage to face challenges head-on and willingness to ask for help when needed.

Representing the student leaders, Charity Khoviwa, was grateful to university management and facilitators for organizing the program.

"We came in eager to learn and left equipped with skills in effective leadership, emotional intelligence and conflict resolution, among others," Khoviwa said.

โ€œWe take these skills back to our roles and use them to build a more vibrant, inclusive and supportive campus community.โ€

All participants received certificates of attendance.
