The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (Ruforum) has joined public and private universities and other higher education sector players in congratulating MUST's incoming Vice Chancellor, Associate Professor Mwapatsa Mipando.

Ruforum is Uganda based university network organisation with a membership of 175 universities across 40 African countries and is currently running two projects in partnership with MUST, namely AgrGrow and TAGDeV 2.0.

The congratulatory message from Ruforum follows numerous others from local and international universities and other higher education institutions.

Owing to his new role, Ruforum explained that Dr Mipando has now been officially incorporated as one of its board members.

"I have no doubt that your academic background and professional experience have prepared you well to take up the reins of leadership with pride at MUST," said Professor Patrick Okori, Ruforum Executive Secretary.

"I seize this opportunity to inform you that the Ruforum governing Board is composed of all Vice Chancellors of its member universities. I therefore formally welcome you to the Ruforum Board and wish you success in your tenure as Vice Chancellor."

Dr Mipando will start his new role on August 9, 2026, taking over from Professor Address Malata who has led MUST as Vice Chancellor since 2016.

Professor Malata has had a distinguished and successful tenure at MUST marked by a number of developments in faculty development, programme and research advancement, systems and structure innovations and many more other highly acclaimed milestones.
