On June 26, 2026, a team from Drone Solutions visited the African Drone and Data Academy (ADDA) at MUST to explore potential areas of collaboration in the drone industry.

The visit aimed to establish a partnership between the two institutions, with a focus on working together in drone-related activities, particularly commercial applications and services.

Drone Solutions is a drone technology company that provides drone-based solutions in several African countries, including Zimbabwe, South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Mozambique and Malawi.

Speaking during the meeting, Chiedza Mujati from Drone Solutions, said they were interested in partnering ADDA to combine expertise and create opportunities within the growing drone industry.

โ€œWe believe that collaboration is important in advancing the drone sector. Working together with ADDA will help us explore new opportunities and deliver impactful drone solutions,โ€ she said.

"Partnerships within the drone industry remain limited, making it challenging for companies and institutions to fully benefit from the potential of drone technology."

Representing ADDA, Head of Earth Sciences Department at MUST, Emmanuel Chinkaka, welcomed the initiative and highlighted the importance of collaboration in strengthening innovation and skills development in the drone sector.

He presented an overview of ADDA, including its establishment, growth and contribution towards building drone technology capacity in Africa.

Senior ADDA Instructor, Prince Mkango, also presented on ADDAโ€™s achievements, saying the academy has trained around 1,500 young people across several African countries in drone technology and related skills.

The meeting enabled both institutions to discuss possible areas of partnership that can contribute to the advancement of drone technology, innovation and industry growth in Malawi and beyond.
