On July 20, 2026, FDH Bank made its second contribution to the MUST Endowment Fund (MEF) with a K100 million donation.

The bank's initial contribution to the MEF, which seeks to raise resources to support needy students and teaching and learning materials, was K106 million in December 2023.

Officials from both institutions attended the official cheque presentation ceremony held at FDH Bank head office in Blantyre.

The new contribution brings FDH Bank's total MEF support to K206 million.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, FDH Bank Deputy Managing Director, George Chitera, said they do not look the contribution merely as a transaction, but a generational investment.

"FDH Bank is proud to contribute K100 million to the MUST Endowment Fund because we believe that investing in education is fundamentally investing in our nation's future," he said emphasizing that education is a necessity rather than a luxury.

Chitera further noted that higher education institutions need a paradigm shift from purely academic focus by promoting entrepreneurship.

He urged universities to become entrepreneurial engines that produce job creators rather than job seekers.

Receiving the support, MUST Vice Chancellor, Professor Address Malata, thanked FDH Bank for investing in the future of young people.

She said the initial K106 million contribution from FDH Bank has now grown through investment yields by an additional K183 million.

With the K100 million top-up, the FDH Bank Fund within MEF is now approaching K400 million.

Professor Malata praised FDH Bank for its enduring support, highlighting that true friendship is the anchoring consistency in the collaboration between the two institutions.

"The FDH Endowment Fund will be there, even after all of us are gone. From now onwards, when MUST shines, FDH Bank will shine too, and it will have a special place in the history of our university,โ€ she said.

This support from FDH Bank is part of a broader, ongoing relationship between the two institutions.

FDH Bank recently also donated K18 million to MUST athletes who participated at the Confederation of Universities and Colleges Sports Associations (CUSCA) in Gaborone, Botswana.
