Twenty-five students from MUST have received full scholarships to pursue undergraduate studies in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) through the Airtel Nzeru Tech Scholarship program.
The scholarship program aims to remove financial barriers that prevent talented students from accessing higher education, giving them an opportunity to pursue their academic goals and contribute to Malawi's technological and economic development.
Speaking on the development, Airtel Malawi Managing Director Aashish Dutt said the program is an investment in the country's future.
"These young people represent the future of Malawi's digital economy. Through the support of the Airtel Africa Foundation, this scholarship is investing not only in their academic success but also in the next generation of innovators, problem-solvers and technology leaders who will help shape Malawi's future," he said.
MUST Vice Chancellor Professor Address Malata welcomed the continued partnership between the university, Airtel Malawi and the Airtel Africa Foundation, describing the initiative as a life-changing opportunity for deserving students.
"We congratulate the successful students and thank the Airtel Africa Foundation, Airtel Malawi and MUST for creating opportunities for talented young people who might otherwise struggle to access higher education," she said.
For the 25 beneficiaries, the scholarship represents more than financial support.
It offers the opportunity to focus on their studies, develop their potential and prepare for careers that will contribute to solving challenges and advancing the country's digital transformation.
As MUST continues to strengthen partnerships that support student success, the Airtel Nzeru Tech Scholarship program stands as a testament to the power of collaboration in creating opportunities and empowering the next generation of scientists, engineers and technology leaders.
