MUST has today officially opened the 2026 Girls STEAM Camp, which runs up to August 7, 2026.
Welcoming over 100 secondary school girls from across Malawi, MUST Vice Chancellor, Professor Address Malata, expressed her gratitude to all partners and organizers who helped to make this flagship initiative possible
Professor Malata urged participants to navigate the rapidly changing digital landscape.
She advised the girls to remain focused on their goals, persevere through challenging scientific concepts, and trust in their sharp minds to shape the future.
"You possess the exact power required to lead and accomplish, so have complete faith in yourself," she said.
Professor Malata also emphasized the importance of maintaining high moral standards, self-respect and faith to navigate distractions.
During the intensive two-week camp, participating girls will engage in hands-on STEAM activities, including collaborative tech projects and lab experiments, tour to EGENCO power station to see engineering in action, academic guidance, motivational talks, reproductive health education and cultural events.
The initiative this year has been supported by UNDP, EGENCO, First Capital Bank (FCB), Plan International Malawi, ICTAM and Smile Life Insurance.
