As our first week comes to a close, the transformation of our campers is nothing short of inspiring.

"So far, so good," reports Dr Priscilla Maliwichi, Chairperson of the 2026 Girls STEAM Camp.

On the first day, the participating secondary school girls arrived nervous and unsure about almost everything, including in the laboratories. However, as days progressed, Dr Maliwichi noted a shift in the girls' body language and self-esteem, marking a major breakthrough in their confidence and cognitive growth.

The girls are currently immersed in physics, biology and chemistry labs. They are gaining direct experience in advanced fields, including hands-on training in mushroom and hand sanitizer production.

The campers are also focusing their skills on critical local issues, including smart farming, sustainable energy, climate resilience, healthcare solutions, and scientific approaches to solving societal problems.

By using state-of-art university labs to design physical, working solutions, the girls are stepping into their roles as national problem solvers.

As Dr Maliwichi proudly notes: "They are ultimately becoming problem solvers, not just students."
