AgTech Challenge 2019 announcement

The Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST), under its Centre for Innovation and Industrial Research (CIIR), is one of the partners in the Centre for Agricultural Transformation (CAT) programme on innovation capacity building. An opportunity has arisen at CAT for tertiary education students to come up with innovations that would address some of the challenges faced by groundnuts farmers.

We all know that groundnuts are an important food and cash crop in Malawi. It is an important source of income for a lot of farmers, including women. However, groundnut production is not an easy task! It involves tedious activities starting from land preparation, planting, weeding, harvesting, shelling and other time-consuming activities. These
activities take up a lot of time, energy and money.
