The Industrial Research Centre is the research arm of the Malawi Institute of Technology. The IRC focuses on conducting industrial research and technology development and transfer and works hand in hand with academic departments within and outside the University in line with the University’s vision to be world class centre of science and technology education, research and entrepreneurship.
To date we have implemented a number projects in the IRC. For example, we have developed an automatic egg incubator to address the challenge of meeting the increased demand for chicks and protein intake from poultry products. We are also implementing a Techno-Economic Feasibility of Decentralised Production of Bioethanol using Wastes from Cassava Processing in Nkhotakota, central Malawi. This study is under the umbrella of the Capacity Building for Managing Climate Change in Malawi (CABMACC) Project being implemented by Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR).
