MUST students in US for cyber security contest

Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) students who emerged champions of the Southern Africa 2022 regional cybersecurity competition, dubbed Cyber 9/12 Strategy Challenge, were today and tomorrow battling it out at the global stage in US.

The Cyber Technophiles, comprising Bachelor of Science in Computer Systems and Security students, are among 32 teams participating at the global stage and they are the only African team there.

“Over 95% of the teams are from the US. Very few teams (less than 20) are participating online while the rest of us are here in-person,” said team coach and lecturer Allan Chongwe in an interview from Washington DC.

The team left Malawi on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 through Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe.

By the end of the day tomorrow, Saturday, the global winner and their runners up will be known.
