MUST to launch academic journal
The Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) is in the final stages of launching its maiden academic journal, called Journal of Advanced Sciences and Arts.
To be launched early February, the journal will be online with most of the activities such as call for papers, reviews and publication, mostly taking place online.
According to chairperson of the journal’s development committee, Dr Atikonda Mtenje-Mkochi, the journal will provide an additional platform for academics and researchers to share their knowledge and other findings through academic publications.
“Much as this is our initiative as MUST, the journal is open to all academics in Malawi and globally. This will be a journal of repute because we have ensured that the review process should be rigorous enough in line with global standards,” she said.
Talking about the launching ceremony, chair or the organizing committee, Dr Andrew Mtewa said all preparations are in place, adding the ceremony will be held at MUST’s campus in Thyolo.
“We have started dispatching invitation letters to colleagues from higher education institutions both public and private and research centres across Malawi. We want them to grace the launch so that they can have an appreciation of how serious the journal will be for them to become part and parcel of its success,” said Dr Mtewa.
