Dr Mwayiwawo Madanitsa is the Head of the Department of Clinical Sciences in the Academy of Medical Sciences at the Malawi University of Science and Technology.

A Medical Doctor by training from the College of Medicine, University of Malawi, Dr Madanitsa attained his Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Liverpool and University of Malawi through a doctoral research fellowship funded by the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP).

Dr Madanitsa has a clinical research and academic passion in innovative therapeutics, diagnostics and implementation science for current and emerging health priorities. His research interests are multidisciplinary, high caliber and innovative clinical targets with outstanding biological and technological potential for translational impact on local and international health policy, and technological advancement.

Dr Madanitsa has published in several peer review journals and worked extensively with global research collaborators through multi-country research consortia. He has been a member of both local and international health policy committees including the WHO Evidence Review Group for Intermittent Screening and Treatment (ISTp) and ACT Treatment of Malaria in Pregnancy, and has served as a reviewer for international peer review journals and grant funding programs.
