A MUST academic, Dr Jabulani Nyengere, who is a lecturer in Geoinformatics and university Postgraduate Coordinator, joined a panel of distinguished experts from across Africa in this yearโs World Food Day (WFD) discussion organized by Future Africa at the University of Pretoria.
The panel discussion, themed โWorking hand in hand for food system transformation: innovation, inclusion, and sustainability for a better future,โ was scheduled for October 16, 2025 at 16:00 GMT via Zoom.
The event brings together experts and thought leaders from Malawi, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Benin, and Botswana, all committed to advancing sustainable and inclusive food systems across the continent.
Representing Malawi, Dr Nyengere will share the countryโs experiences and perspectives on innovation and inclusivity in food systems, highlighting local strategies that promote sustainability, equity, and technological transformation in agriculture and food production.
Speaking ahead of the event, Dr Nyengere expressed excitement about contributing to the continental dialogue.
โThis is an important opportunity to exchange ideas on how we can collectively transform Africaโs food systems. I look forward to sharing Malawiโs progress and learning from others working towards a more sustainable and inclusive food future,โ Dr Nyengere said.
The World Food Day discussion seeks to inspire collaboration among researchers, policymakers, innovators, and communities to rethink how food is produced, shared, and consumed for the benefit of people and the world at large.
