VC shares vision with staff

New MUST Vice Chancellor, Associate Professor Mwapatsa Mipando, has challenged university staff to adopt servant leadership to drive global excellence and local relevance.
He made the remarks during an interactive staff meeting held at the MUST Ndata Campus in Thyolo.
Dr Mipando called for the meeting to share his vision with staff members so that there can be alignment and buy-in.
Through a presentation titled "Building a decade of excellence: Transforming MUST to be globally engaged and locally relevant," the Vice Chancellor articulated his strategic direction for the institution.
He used the architectural and engineering marvel of the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, as metaphor for organizational transformation.
"MUST can learn vital lessons from the iconic building's structural integrity and engineering precision to build a resilient, high-performing university," he said.
“Servant leadership, continuous learning, robust accountability, and clear performance metrics are the principal drivers crucial for the university’s growth."
To achieve these milestones, Dr Mipando urged staff members to spearhead aggressive resource mobilization to secure the university's financial future.
Dr Mipando also highlighted four strategic pillars, which aim to expand global ranking, ensure economic resilience, accelerate digital adoption and foster civic responsibility through community service.
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment from staff to support the leadership team in achieving these developmental goals.
