As MUST prepared to celebrate its 7th graduation ceremony on August 6, the story of Pythagorus Kaombe is a powerful reminder that determination, discipline, and resilience can turn dreams into reality.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences and majoring Insurance and Financial Mathematics, Pythagorus has not just passed, he has come out with a distinction.
His is pure instict, because Pythagorus began his university journey in June 2022 as an engineering student.
However, driven by his passion for finance, he transferred to the Mathematical Sciences programme when the opportunity arose.
The transition was challenging, but he remained focused.

"Mathematics demanded discipline, perseverance, and consistent effort. I knew I had to work harder than ever before if I wanted to succeed," he said.
His commitment paid off as he earned distinctions from his first year and maintained excellent academic performance throughout his studies.
Beyond academics, Pythagorus was committed to serving others.
He was elected Director of Social Welfare in the MUST Students Representative Council (MSRC), despite being warned that leadership would negatively affect his studies.
Instead, he proved that with discipline, effective time management, and faith in God, it is possible to excel in both leadership and academics.
Like many students, Pythagoras faced academic pressure and moments of self-doubt.
Rather than giving up, he sought help from lecturers and classmates, practiced past examination papers, and remained determined to understand every difficult concept.
"No matter how difficult a concept may seem, I would find a way to understand it," he said.
To current and aspiring MUST students, his message is clear, never let temporary setbacks define your future.
"Stay disciplined, believe in yourself, prepare well, and trust God throughout your journey," he added.
Pythagorus's journey shows that success is not determined by how many challenges you face, but by the courage to keep moving forward.
His story is an inspiration that with hard work, resilience, and purpose, every dream is within reach.
